Sheikh Hasina awarded the WITSA Eminent Persons Award
After Sajeeb Wajed Joy received the ASOCIO Leadership Award on Friday for his revolutionary change and contribution to the country's IT sector, today (Saturday), the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina was awarded the WITSA Eminent Persons Award.
The award was announced by WITSA President Yannis Sirros at the 'WITSA Awards and Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh' held online at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital last night. He was accompanied by the Secretary General of the organization Dr. James H. Poysant. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh received this award for the socio-economic development of the country in the power of technology.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak received the award on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion. The award was handed over by BCS President Shahid Ul Munir. Planning Minister MA Mannan was the chief guest at the award function. NM Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary, ICT Department was present.
Palak commented that this honor is an impeccable recognition for leading the way in establishing Digital Bangladesh.
Earlier, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT Adviser to the Prime Minister, was awarded the 'Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization Association (ASOCIO) Leadership Award-2021'. ASOCIO is formed by 24 countries in the Asia-Oceania region. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak accepted the award on his behalf. The medals were handed over by ASOCIO Deputy Chairman Don Choai and former Chairman Mr. Gul Rakh Sarakananda and former Chairman of the ASOCIO and Chairman of the Awards Committee Abdullah H. Kafi.
Earlier in 1997, the Prime Minister of Malaysia was awarded the award to Mahathir Mohamad, Thaksin Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Thailand in 2004 and Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu in 2010.
